Location and type: Kings Norton Golf Club, commercial property (main bar area and 1st floor members’ lounge)
Client request: The club wanted to refresh the building’s outdated, brown-framed windows with a more modern anthracite grey. They also aimed to bring more natural light into the space while ensuring the views of the golf course could be enjoyed.
Installation: Large picture windows and double doors.
Challenges and solutions
This project came with some unique challenges, primarily the need to install large glass panes while ensuring minimal disruption to the club’s daily operations.
To meet the client’s request for the biggest possible panes, we used toughened safety glass with steel-reinforced frames. These ensured structural integrity while maintaining an uninterrupted view of the golf course.
Since the club remained operational throughout the renovation, our team carefully planned the installation around peak usage times. We sectioned off working areas for safety and efficiency, ensuring the space remained usable for members.
As the sole trade working on-site, we were responsible for managing the entire project from start to finish. This included maintaining a clean and safe environment, leaving the site in excellent condition at the end of each day.
The process
From the initial enquiry to completion, the entire project took six weeks, with four days dedicated to on-site installation. The process began with detailed consultations to understand the club’s aesthetic goals and functional requirements. After selecting anthracite grey UPVC frames and toughened safety glass, we carefully coordinated delivery and installation to align with the club’s schedule.
Given the large pane sizes, precise handling and positioning were very important to maintain safety and ensure a flawless finish. Our team worked efficiently to install the windows and doors while minimising disruption to the club’s members and staff. Each day, the site was left clean and organised, so it remained welcoming and operational throughout the process. When working with commercial clients, we always do our upmost to make sure that you can remain open whilst we work.
The result
